Janet A Holmes was born and grew up in Perth, Western Australia. Throughout her career she has worked variously as a primary school teacher librarian, in the education sector for the Australian govenrment and as a researcher/writer. Since leaving the paid work force, Janet has been devoting herself to filling in the gaps in her education with a current focus on french, ceramics and electric guitar. Duck, Janet's first book with Little Hare, has just been published as a Little Hare Classic.

Jonathan Bentley has been a newspaper editorial illustrator for many years, and has illustrated books for Margaret Wild, The Wiggles and Andrew Daddo. He has illustrated several books for Little Hare including Holmes' debut Duck, and the best-selling Where is Bear, which he wrote as well as illustrated. Jonathan likes to work with a range of materials including acrylics, oils, and line and watercolour, and he looks forward to the day when he has a big barn-like studio somewhere in the countryside.
