Críticas:

"In this time-fractured journey to a startling and emphatic finale, Ms. Dolan delivers a vivid and convincing picture of a world where loyalty and selflessness are forced into fatal juxtaposition with treachery and ambition." - Wall Street Journal

"A complex and nuanced psychological thriller . . . pays off in a stunning conclusion that makes you want to reread the whole book to figure out how you missed what was really going on." - starred review, Booklist

"Intriguing . . . The novel is cleverly plotted; Dolan nicely ramps up suspense on the way to its shocking ending." - Publishers Weekly

"Retribution begins to close like a steel trap . . . Dolan is expert at the orchestration of tension, right up to the vertiginous climax. This first stand-alone novel . . . also adds a new layer to the author's trenchant social commentary." - Guardian

"A terrific stand-alone novel . . . Dolan doesn't sugar-coat anything in this haunting novel about friendship, suspicion and betrayal." - Sunday Times

"A sad, intelligent book, with a shocking ending." - Marcel Berlins, The Times

"Dolan . . . excels at presenting knotty, addictive tales that also force the reader to think more widely about the way in which society treats its most vulnerable members . . . Dolan is a master of pace and it's fascinating to watch the real Ella slowly emerge. Ultimately, this smart, deftly told story resonates so strongly because of the complex, claustrophobic relationship at its heart: like Molly, we are drawn inexorably to Ella's flame, unable to step away even when it might burn."- Independent

"A thoroughly contemporary and distinctively intelligent thriller." - Mail on Sunday

"Contemporary London is brilliantly evoked in this timely, twisted story about social activism. Beginning with a death in a building where the residents have been forced out, it sweeps you on a journey to a conclusion that lingers long in the memory." - Sunday Mirror

"Dolan has fashioned switchback twists with characters who are nuanced and transcend stereotype. A triumph." - Metro

"Inventive and compelling . . . An impeccably structured story that blends the personal and political with searing effect . . . The key to Dolan's compulsive storytelling is that her action is rooted in utterly believable characters . . . The women have a kind of surrogate mother-daughter relationship, one with all the intricacies and conflict that such a relationship suggests, and it's that shifting dynamic that keeps the story driving forward, and keeps readers on their toes. This is terrific writing that engages the head and heart equally." - Big Issue

"A bold psychological thriller which delivers a searing social commentary on the displacement of poor working-class families . . . Bleak and uncompromising but also heartfelt with Dolan using beautiful prose to weave a thrilling tale that builds to a surprising twist and a shocking finale." - Daily Express

"Female activists Molly and Ella weave a tissue of deceit in this superb thriller." - Woman & Home

"My extreme love for Eva Dolan's activist-noir This Is How It How Ends stems from the fact that it's one of the first crime novels I've come across to feature powerful, complex, and dedicated women activists in starring roles that are not tied to their gender . . . This is How it Ends is her first standalone, and with its well-laid plot and well-grounded context, it's not one to miss." - CrimeReads

"The authority of Dolan's writing grows from book to book." - Barry Forshaw, Financial Times

"This Is How It Ends is searing and uncompromising and so inventive in structure I could but marvel." - Tamar Cohen/Rachel Rhys, author of THE MISTRESSES'S REVENGE and DANGEROUS CROSSING

"A sublime and relevant urban literary thriller. Well-crafted, gripping, moving. Eva is a brilliant storyteller and the stories she tells are as compelling as they are important. She's a star." - Will Dean, author of the forthcoming DARK PINES

"Angry and impassioned yet soulful and heartfelt, This Is How It Ends puts Eva Dolan firmly among the top rank of British crime fiction. The difference between Dolan and a lot of her contemporaries is the difference between The Clash and Coldplay. And I know who I'd rather listen to." - Martyn Waites

"Angry, compassionate and mind-blowingly clever, with a truly shocking ending." - Mark Edwards

"Anyone wanting smart and compelling crime fiction with razor-sharp social comment should read Eva Dolan. In fact EVERYONE should read her." - Mark Billingham

"It couldn't be more timely. Or more imbued with passion." - Val McDermid

"Eva Dolan tells stories that are all too real, using beautiful prose to weave the darkest of tales. This Is How It Ends is hard-hitting, twisted, chilling and in short, absolutely stunning." - SJ Holliday

"Stupendous. The thriller comes of age." - Sarah Hilary, winner of the Theakston Crime Book of the Year

"Bold and unusual, Eva Dolan's exquisite writing perfectly captures contemporary London in this cleverly plotted novel." - Sarah Ward, author of IN BITTER CHILL

"I have always loved Eva Dolan's books and her newest is fierce, timely, twisty and so well written." - Sarah Franklin

"Eva Dolan's This Is How It Ends is a tense, intelligent, politically charged thriller, expertly crafted by a writer at the top of her game." - Mari Hannah, winner of the CWA Dagger in the Library

"Elegantly crafted, humane and thought-provoking. She's top drawer." - Ian Rankin, author of the Rebus mystery series on AFTER YOU DIE

"Eva Dolan writes some of the most important crime fiction on the scene today." - Stuart Neville

"Intelligent and deeply compassionate, shot through with sly humour and never failing to be anything but totally gripping, AFTER YOU DIE is a superb new entry in the DI Zigic and DS Ferreira series that confirms Dolan as one of crime fiction's brightest rising stars." - Chris Ewan, author of SAFE HOUSE on AFTER YOU DIE

"So fluid and easy to read, and her characters are becoming like old friends now." - James Oswald, author of the Inspector Maclean series on AFTER YOU DIE

Reseña del editor:

Three hundred gone. Just six left.

The building was once home to families, friends, children, couples, love, life. Now, almost every apartment is empty, the inhabitants forced out by the developers tearing down the old social housing to build luxury homes.

Only a few of the inhabitants have fought back against the attempts to evict them from their homes and their histories. And they have been joined by passionate student protester and would-be journalist, Ella, who is leading a high-profile media campaign to protect those who refuse to leave.

One night, Ella returns home to find a horrible scene awaiting her-the dead body of a mysterious man. Panicked, she calls her neighbor Molly, who convinces her that the police won't believe she's innocent. Together the two women concoct a gruesome plan to hide the body.

But the secret won't stay buried for long. As truth hangs in the balance, a neighbor tells Molly he had heard Ella arguing with a man in the hallway and mistrust grows between Ella and Molly, as repercussions of that night threaten to change both women's lives forever.
