The duo's story is about being true to one's love and one's dreams, and letting God use the talents He gives each of us. They expertly incorporate the history of the Mississippi showboat era with the origins of the Pinkerton detective agency while giving us a solid romance infused with mystery set atop a strong spiritual message.--Melanie Bates"RT Book Reviews" (07/01/2013)
I enjoyed Lily and Camellia and was anxious to read Jasmine. The story lines of all three sisters are wrapped up nicely and the happy ending that I love was present.--Michele Carley "Blogspot.com "
I really enjoyed this read. Its fast and full of action, witty talk, comic behavior and war-tagging emotional whirl that it will keep your attention captured until the the end. Even though you can easily read it as a stand alone this book is perfect ending to the great series of strong-willed, heard-headed and of course God-loving sisters. I hope you will have as much fun reading it as I did.--Larik Burci"NetGalley" (07/04/2013)
This is a really good read, with a lot of twists and turns weaved throughout the story. I like that they authors weaved the importance of allowing God to lead our lives, and shows us that 'the grass is not always greener on the other side!' I also enjoyed the historical events so vividly described throughout the book. Everything about this book makes for a very fun, interesting and entertaining read. If you enjoy historical fiction, I encourage you to pick up a copy of Jasmine. For readers that have an interest in the theater, the novel will not disappoint. The pages are filled with descriptions of sets, costumes, rehearsals and an occasional Shakespearean quote.--MJ Herbert"wordpress.com" (08/03/2013)
Many kudos to Ms. Ashley and Mr. McCarver for a truly memorable, fun book, I was sorry to see it end.--Victor M. Gentile"Vic's Media Room" (08/11/2013)
The final book in the Song of the River series, follows Jasmine's journey. And I would definitely recommend reading this book if you read the previous book and enjoyed them, because it catches up with Camellia, Lily and their families, along with some of the side characters and old friends from those books as well.
...The end was really well done, and there was poignant growth for both Jasmine and David. As well as containing a great mystery, that kept me guessing!--Faith Oygard"Labor Not in Vain" (09/06/2013)
Overall, I loved this book. I enjoyed the historical aspects of the story, and the character development was superb. The plot kept me hanging on, and the riverboat setting was so quaint.--Callie Barrett"My Book Thoughts" (11/02/2013)
Reseña del editor:
Jasmine Anderson runs away from her riverboat home and the faith and love of her past to pursue a life of fame. She flees to a showboat where she gains small roles and attracts the seductive attention of the lead actor and the bitter jealousy of a veteran actress. Then a great tragedy sets off a chain of events that creates promising new opportunities but also grave danger for Jasmine—and ultimately the chance to discover a dream truly worth living and sacrificing for.
