Alyx (who is named for Joanna Russ's unforgettable adventuress) is married to fellow Aurora winner Kelly Robson; the two were able to make their outlaw wedding of 1989 legal, in 2003, when the Canadian Supreme Court conferred full marriage equality on same sex couples.
