Hardback with DJ. Story of a Duck and takes place in Northern California. Fup is a wonderfully funny and bittersweet book that really should be read outloud, I read it to my son when he was ten - carefully editing the few obscenities - and we roared with laughter. Dodge is an honerable heir to Vonnegut (my son , now 12, extremely enjoyed "Stone Junction")- the tales are so goofy , and the charactors are quite endearing. As a previous reviewer said, this should be a must-read for teen-agers . Not a slight to adults , but a recognition that Dodge is - like Vonnegut - a neat introduction to the conflicts of identity and choices that maturity encompasses. Nº de ref. del artículo: 52383
Descripción Hardback. Fup is a tale of two humans, one duck and several vats of home-brewed whisky. There's Grandaddy Jake Santee, ninety-nine years old, an unreformed gambler, cranky reprobate and fierce opponent of the work ethic. Thanks to his home-distilled hooch, Ol' Death Whisper, he reckons he's in with a good shot at immortality. There's Tiny, adopted at the age of four by Grandaddy Jake, a giant young man as gentle as Jake is belligerent. And then there's Fup, an uncompromising twenty-pound mallard duck, partial to a drink herself, whose unique presence transforms the Santee household.Hilarious, heartwarming and magical, Fup is a contemporary fable that inspires an almost evangelical fervour in all who read it. It is a work of enormous originality with a giant heart. Good condition. Light scuff marks on dust jacket. Nº de ref. del artículo: 18560433
